Antique Sterling Silver Bethany Lindsborg Engraved Souvenir Spoon Pendant, 1881

The pendant was made from the bowl of a beautifully engraved bowl sterling silver souvenir spoon. It likely dates from the mid-late 1880s. The pendant comes with a 30" silverplated serpent chain. There is some distressing on the back and tip of the bowl - shown in photos.

Bethany is a small, private college that was founded in 1881 in Lindsborg, Kansas. It is one of Kansas’s oldest educational institutions. Founded in 1881, Bethany College held its first class in Bethany Lutheran Church in Lindsborg, serving as the Church in Mission in Higher Education ever since.

What a wonderful memento for anyone whose ancestors attended this college, past alumni, or current students. A beautiful piece to celebrate a college that is known especially for its art and music.
