Looking for a unique way to use a few pieces of your favorite flatware pattern? Or maybe a way to honor Grandma's heirlooms? I hear time and again that "the kids don't want it" when it comes to passing down Grandma's silverplate flatware.
I have a a great solution - I make custom jewelry and key rings from your flatware, so Grandma's treasures can still be family heirlooms - but not take up so much space! Also perfect to make keepsakes for all Grandma's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren! A wonderful way to have each member of the family have a special heirloom from their loved one!
Contact me to see what I can make for you. I do bracelets, pendants, earrings, rings, scarf rings and key rings, bookmarks, tea balls, and money or tie clips. I can make golf divot repair tools, plus seam rippers and letter openers from hollow knives. So many wonderful ways to keep keep your family's history alive!
You can see in the photos the flatware before and jewelry after, and some of the variety that can be achieved from one particular pattern.
Some things to keep in mind:
• Demitasse spoons lend themselves to be made into rings
• Baby spoons make wonderful saddle rings.
• Very heavy pieces are very hard to bend nicely, and are better suited to pendants and keyrings,
but could also be used for larger scarf rings
• Teaspoons, demitasse and salad forks generally are the best options for earrings because they
tend to be more lightweight
• Dinner forks and soup or place spoons are the best choice for bracelets.
• Tarnish can be polished out, but plate wear will be visible in the finished piece.
We can discuss all of the possibilities and prices. You can also browse my listings to see the prices of certain items. Each member of your family can have their own unique heirloom! I can work with silverplate and sterling flatware, as well as stainless - though some stainless is very difficult to bend and drill - so we can discuss options for those.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Contact me about the possibilities. Include a photo of your flatware so I can identify the pattern and be sure I can work with it. I can offer suggestions at this point if you're unsure of what you want. You can also look through my listing to get ideas.
2. Send the piece(s) you want converted to jewelry to me. I'll provide address in our conversation.
3. I will set up a custom order for you ONCE I HAVE THE FLATWARE. The order will be based on our discussions of what you would like done, how many pieces you need, and cost of order.
4. Purchase the custom listing.
5. Work commences once payment is received. Turn around varies for one day to seven days, depending on the size of your order.
6. I'll send photos prior to shipping for approval.
7. If everything looks good, I'll ship the following day.
8. Everyone is delighted with their new heirloom!
